Breeze Airways Reveals Initial Airbus A220 Route Network
Up and coming Breeze Airways took delivery of its first Airbus A220 in December last year. Now, the type has officially been added to the airline's summer schedule. Passengers traveling across the Southeastern United States are now able to book a ride on the jet with its first class 'Nicest' fare offerings, with services starting from May 4th.
While the full extent of the Breeze Airways A220 route network for 2022 is yet to be revealed, the airline has announced some of the services that will see Airbus' popular little jet. The A220 will operate on 17 existing Breeze Airways routes throughout the summer season. Meanwhile, the carrier is also set to announce new and longer A220 services in the upcoming weeks.
Most routes from Tampa, Florida
Breeze has thus far only taken delivery of one out of an 80 strong order for the A220. However, by the end of the year, the airline intends to have 15 A220-300s in service. Breeze means to deploy the aircraft on longer routes, including transcontinental services. Meanwhile, for this summer at least, they will traverse the south east corner of the Unites States up to Virginia.
Passengers will be able to travel on the A220 on the following routes from Tampa, Florida: Akron/Canton, Charleston, Louisville, Norfolk, Oklahoma City, Richmond. Tulsa, Bentonville/Fayetteville, and Huntsville. Routes from Charleston include Tampa, Providence, Richmond, Hartford, and Huntsville.
From Norfolk, the A220 will be available on routes to Tampa, Columbus, and Hartford and from Richmond to Tampa and Charleston. It will also fly between Hartford and Pennsylvania. The A220 will be rolled out on all the above routes (and in the opposite direction) from May 4th to the 30th of June.
Introducing 'Nicest' first class seats
With the arrival of the A220-300 on the schedule, Breeze is also introducing its first class seat. This will be available with a 'Nicest' fare, building on Breeze's two already available 'Nice' and 'Nicer' ticket rates. Up until January 25th, the airline is running an introductory offer starting at $99 for a 'Nicest' ticket, available on most flights except for Mondays and Sundays. To determine which services will be operated by the Airbus jet, customers can simply check to see if the 'Nicest' option is available.
In addition to a first class seat, the new category will feature a range of bundled amenities. These will initially include two checked bags, a carry-on bag and a personal item. Guests will receive 6% of BreezePoints earned. The airline will later add fresh food items to the bundle on longer routes. Later on in the year, all Breeze's A220s will be outfitted with in-flight Wi-Fi.
The A220-300s operated by Breeze will feature a dynamic seating plan that can be changed according to season and demand. This offers a potential of between 12 and 36 first class seats in a 2-2 configuration. These will have a 39-inch seat pitch and be 20.5 inches wide. They will also feature a foldable footrest. Breeze's A220 cabin will also feature between ten and 45 extra legroom seats, all in a 2-3 layout.
