Bamboo Airways to ink $60 million deal with SR Technics and purchase Boeing 777X

Bamboo Airways inked an MoU on CFM56-5B engines maintenance worth $60 million with SR Technics - the world's leading maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider. The signing ceremony was held within the framework of the Singapore Airshow, under the witness of high-ranking dignitaries and business representatives of the two countries.
This move is expected to create opportunities to promote the value and power of the highest standards of support solutions in the aviation ecosystem. Particularly, the agreement allows both parties to explore areas of cooperation including CFM56-5B engines, training services, technical services, and component requirements and repair.
By signing the MoU, SR Technics and Bamboo Airways established a long-term partnership.
Speaking at the ceremony, Jean-Marc Lenz, CEO at SR Technics said. "We are thrilled to welcome Bamboo Airways as a new SR Technics customer and look forward to meeting and exceeding their expectations. I am pleased that with this MoU, we will further our commitment to provide best-in-class MRO services in the aviation world. We look forward to the future development of our partnership. This will impact the growth and strengthen Vietnam's competitive position in serving the worldwide aviation industry."
Nguyen Khac Hai, deputy general director at Bamboo Airways said, "With the prestige and experience of SR Technics, we strongly believe the agreement on the selection of SR Technics' engines and other maintenance for Bamboo Airways' fleet will help enhance our operation capacity, service quality, and competitiveness on international flight routes in the future."
On the same day, Bamboo Airways and Boeing entered an agreement on four digital solutions for its entire fleet, which will continue to help the carrier drive efficiency and reduce operating costs. Digital analytics solutions allow airlines to operate with the utmost safety, information accuracy, and reduce possible risks.
In addition, Bamboo Airways has had discussions with Boeing and expressed interest in purchasing the latest fuel-efficient, wide-body Boeing 777X, in an attempt to expand its presence in Europe, Australia, and especially the US.
Promoting international flights
As global aviation is bouncing back to the pre-pandemic levels, Bamboo Airways has shown drastic actions to effectively operate international routes, thus meeting the increasing travel demands and contributing to the economic rebound.
"Adding to the expansion of Bamboo Airways' fleet, the cooperation with international partners will lay a solid foundation to promote our crucial routes in the future. This is also a stepping stone to expand our intercontinental flight network bridging Vietnam with medium and long-range markets," said Nguyen Khac Hai.
These agreements are important preparation of Bamboo Airways for its Vietnam-Singapore route and international network expansion in 2022. The airline plans to operate the Vietnam-Singapore route from March 24. In the context of air travel rebound, Bamboo Airways is determined to explore potential markets, aiming for 40 international routes in 2022.
Since January, Bamboo Airways has conducted regularly-scheduled flights to Asian markets such as Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and others. Regarding other markets, the airline will officially operate routes between Ho Chi Minh City and Melbourne from February 19, Hanoi and Frankfurt from February 25, Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok from March 17, and Hanoi and London from March 22.
Besides this, Bamboo Airways is gearing up its preparation for the launch to Laos, Cambodia, and the US in the future.
